Engula was built by engineers who encountered the same scaling wall every Redis-heavy team hits: memory costs that grow faster than value, and RTO windows that can't be improved without changing the fundamental architecture. We set out to solve both — without asking teams to change anything about how they use Redis.

Engula implements a Redis/Valkey wire-compatible abstraction layer that ensures 100% behavioral compatibility. Our coroutine-based thread runtime optimizes for latency-sensitive tasks, while our HybridLog in-memory compression engine trades CPU for significant RAM savings. Parallel streaming snapshots deliver up to 10× faster dumps and loads compared to traditional approaches.
